Purrseidon’s Water Obsession

P1120950After we realized that Purrseidon liked water and loved being wet, I started to joke about her being a Labrador Retriever in Kitty costume … Well, I just found this gif and I’ve changed my mind … she would love to snooze in the sun awhile she floated along in the waves … she must actually be an otter!

    1. If you like cats who don’t live ‘inside the box’, then you’d probably like Purrseidon. BTW, she does like boxes, it is the rest that she is very un-cat-like about.

    1. She is an odd kitten/cat to live with. We grabbed her off the street (she was born to a feral mother) and 4 weeks old, when a dog was trying to shake her to death and often wonder if her love for water is natural for her or if she never learned how a cat is expected to behave as a baby.

    1. It is difficult to share information about a kitten who loves water and water sports more than I do. I apologize for the slight bit of sarcasm … in ‘real life’ I’m asking Purrseidon, “Are you really, really sure that’s what you want?” Then, shaking my head when she insists.

  1. Interesting name for a cat. Can’t stop thinking that when she goes swimming and gets broadsided by a wave, Gene Hackman and Ernest Borgnine will be inside fighting over how to escape.

    1. She doesn’t particularly like the shore because of the lapping tide, and we only take her to the beach when the waves are relatively calm. As she gets better, perhaps we’ll take her out in larger waves.

    1. Mr. M agrees with Mr. N and thinks there is something really wrong with Purr’s thought process. However, she isn’t the only cat who likes water.

    1. Purrseidon has to settle for the bathtub in bad weather, too … she can get quite vocal about that, particularly when it’s raining…. we also need to make sure the toilet seat doesn’t get left up….

  4. We had a dog (Bichon Malti-Poo) who thought he was a cat. He sat like one, climbed, even came close to a purr. So I see nothing wrong with Purrseidon channeling her inner otter! Monkey doesn’t like water no way no how!

    1. We had friends who had a Bichon – she acted more like a cat that Purrseidon does. I’d previously assumed that was because she had cat friends, now, I’m wondering if it is typical of the breed.

    1. My sister has 3 Siberians who love water — if you take a shower there, make certain the door is locked!!! I thought it was an anomaly with that breed, until you-know-who kept getting into anything with water…

    1. LOL, I don’t know why wordpress has that blog stuck in first place, but it is fun to see that otter, even though I always need to scroll down to the new posts.

I don’t know why that post about my water obsession is stuck on the top of that blog, but I like that otter.

  5. Oh, we love that video. Yes, we think any kitty would rather float along that chase a ball or sticking the water like a lab. Thanks for the tip about the habaneros. Tom actually grows them, so he will dry and grind one. Does it work with groundhogs too? I can’t even let him wash and cut them the house. They are too strong! Hugs, Janet

    1. I have never tried habanero on ground hogs, but it’s worth a try – their anatomy is closer to a squirrel’s than a birds… actually, habanero is good for birds because the hot pepper kills worms, etc.

  6. I have been surfing online more than 2 hours today, yet I
never found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me.
In my view, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the internet will be a lot more useful than ever before.

    1. I’m glad you like the name … we still wonder if we jinxed her into a water obsession by naming her that OR IF we subconsciously realized how much she loved water when we chose the name.

    1. Purrseidon loves the water & has her own blog: purrseidon.wordpress.com… She and her elder brother (Mr. M) work as muses to write Xander de Hunter’s Sea Purrtector series. (family-friendly fantasy with a feline 007)

  8. Does she KNOW that she is a C-A-T?! Does she have webbed paws?! I think Purrseidon is a merkitty! Or maybe she was a dolphin in a past life. Does she know that she is a C-A-T?! I just can’t imagine being in the water and actually enjoying it!

    1. Mr. M keeps trying to tell/show Purr how to be a proper cat and we keep telling her she is one… I think she has a unique definition of what a cat it. A friend of mine needs to lock the bathroom door to keep her Bengals out of the tub/shower, and I have heard that breed loves water, like Purr…. We’ve often looked at her dark portions and wondered if one of her ancestors was a Bengal.
We know which feral her mother was and that her littermate apparently loved water, too (she drown when she was 4 weeks old), which was a motivator for us to grab Purr 2 weeks before we’d planned.
