Keeping Cool in the Dog-Days of Summer

Now that most of us have hot weather, it seems wise to share this info-graphic. Heatstroke is serious and dogs can’t sweat to cool themselves like people…. Purrseidon is NOT going to like the tip about providing a kiddy pool for the dog to splash around in…

I also discovered an info-graphic for what to do if your dog gets heat stroke – it’s at the bottom & I sincerely hope you never need to know what to do in that situation!

  1. It’s a very serious matter. I remember years ago when I was working part time at a vet clinic. This girl came racing in and said her dog had collapsed and she needed help. Turns out she had been riding her bike with her golden lab running on a leash beside her. This was summer in central Florida. The vet was finally able to save him but it was touch and go for a few days. As long as I have lived, I will never understand people who only appear to have a usable brain. That’s my nice rant. I can’t say what I really think and feel.

    1. I read you between the lines & agree! We have a neighbor that walks his dog down the middle of our street in the heat of the day – we live in FL – the poor dog keeps trying to walk on the grass & the neighbor keeps yanking it back onto the asphalt … and now you know what inspired that blog.

      1. Maybe no one has ever explained to him what he’s doing to his dog — and he obviously doesn’t have any sense of his own…. Sorry, but I have become more outspoken when I see something like that now. I saw it too often in Florida (just moved from there ourselves) on the West Orange Trail there in Central Florida. After that one beautiful dog almost died, if I could catch a peddler running his dog with the poor dog’s tongue hanging out, I yelled — GIVE THAT DOG SOME WATER NOW. I will just never understand people and their total lack of awareness — okay, stupidity.
