Aggression & Anxiety

2016 - 1

I might be wrong, but in my mind aggression and anxiety can be aspects of the same thing. Sort of like when certain people or pets are hungry, they begin to act angry — hangry is a term I’ve heard for it, though I don’t know if it’s in the dictionary…. I’ve even seen this concept used in ads to sell candy bars, which only serves to convince me that anxiety (IMHO, hunger is a type of this) can create aggression.

Regardless of whether you agree or not, here are 2 interesting infographics – one on anxiety in pets and the other on the ‘ladder of aggression’. BTW, I thought it was interesting that the anxiety chart did not include hunger.648c867107b84e4e7e4396c23d1aa0d92acf924e37a3c96c9fe29effdf7544f4

  1. Jernee has been getting quite aggressive of late and I notice it’s usually when she doesn’t get her way. This behavior started sometime earlier this year, shortly after my Mom moved back into her place.

      1. I leave the radio on for her each day, Rhythm and Blues. I’m home with her now, sitting on the balcony. This is what she wanted, not a peep out of her so far. When she doesn’t get her way, totally the opposite. Ornery. That’s all.
