Personal View on Obamacare

A dear friend and her family had Obamacare last year… after a great deal of thought and discussion, they chose the plan to cover their family of 4 and spent extra to have dental and vision included. Once they paid their premiums and had their insurance cards, they picked up the phone to make appointments for annual physicals. Both kids got their physicals; one was given a referral to a specialist for an annoying little problem (about 16 months ago) and they still haven’t gotten an appointment set up for that. They also phoned the dental provider – once a week for months on end – but were given a variety of reasons why they couldn’t set up appointments at that time.cvn4hhlwyaaryyi

Bottom line: they paid extra for dental and vision coverage, but basically got the run-around.

IMHO, dental and vision is important – particularly for kids. IF there is an issue with either the mouth or eyes, the nerves, etc. are in very close proximity to the brain and that can cause complications.

Anyway, when I discovered my friend’s problems with that system, I was upset enough to speak to a friend of mine who happens to be a dentist. You see, instead of getting the kids toys, etc. for their birthdays, I wanted to gift them with dental checkups and X-rays…. It was quite easy to talk my friend into this plan and she was even excited enough about it to design gift certificates, so I would have something to ‘wrap’.  th-2.jpg

Thus, instead of calling it Obamacare, I think of that system as “Obaminationcare” because the lack of care is an outright abomination. Seriously, what is our healthcare system coming to when I end up gifting X-rays and basic care instead of something fun?!?

BTW, I  hope that you realize the original name of Obamacare was Hillarycare... Did you realize that lemon had been around since 1993?

    1. Exactly! They are very proud people and try hard to do things for themselves – I suspect that they could do better financially if they lived off Welfare, but, like I said, they are too proud to do that. In a way, the gift was for the whole family, not just the kids & my friend gave me a good price, so I spent about the same amount on healthcare that I would have on a typical gift.
