Though Jeanne began her career technical writing, her love of romantic-suspense, whether it be present, future or in an unknown galaxy inspired her to write the novels she wanted to find in bookstores. Since marrying, Jeanne and her husband have lived from the arctic to the tropics, as well as from yacht to off-grid mountain home. She loves using vivid colors and flowing shapes in her oil paintings as well as creating edible landscapes. At present, she is finishing writing the Chatterre Trilogy and working on a new episode for The Sea Purrtector Files. 1. We didn’t actually have them as pets but they were regular visitors to our garden and invited their chums as we regularly put food and water out. They are very partial to peanuts (not the salted kind) and cat food. We could almost tell the time by them, and Hubby set up a detection device consisting of a cotton reel and length of thread across the path. Hedgehog passed across it, cotton reel shot off sideboard, we sat on step and watched. Great stuff. So much better than what was on TV!

      2. They can be real characters as each have a certain charm (as well as fleas!). We’ve seen a couple here on the marina, but overall, hedgehogs are in decline which makes us sad. People put poison pellets down for slugs to protect their crops, but hedgehogs eat the slugs, fall ill, and die. We shall be on the lookout for them this year as apparently there is a protection drive here in town to increase their numbers.
